I just saw what I think were two babies in my backyard eating from our feeder in Dublin, Ca.

I am not entirely sure, they may have been Western Kingbirds. I did not get a close look, I only noticed the "parakeet" ish features and the yellow belly.

I think I have a n active Yellow Breasted Chat nest in my yard! I hear the chicks and see the adults fly in and feed the nestlings. I’m in Palo Alto. Familiär with gold finch but these are different. Have never seen them here before — never noticed before

AboutYou never know who you'll catch when you're bird banding! We wanted to share that sense of surprise, so we'll be posting here some of the birds we catch in the course of our research. Some birds will be here because they are unusual in some way; others just because they took a nice photo. AuthorsWe are biologists who study landbirds in the south San Francisco Bay Area through bird banding at Coyote Creek Field Station. We have extensive training (and official permits) for our bird handling, and we prioritize bird safety over all else. Archives
