Volunteer in Our Environmental Education Program
Due to the shelter in place advisories, our in-person outreach and education programs have been suspended, but there are several virtual opportunities to get involved. We are still conducting new volunteer intake for current and future opportunities, please see the descriptions below for information and fill out our online form to get started. Become an education and outreach volunteer and help us inspire a commitment for bird conservation in the Bay Area.
- Volunteers can help create, design, or share hands-on bird and science themed activities, games, contests, or quizzes for our resources page and social media accounts.
- Volunteers with science backgrounds or particular knowledge of a topic related to birds, science, or conservation may give a Birdy Hour Science Talk.
Become an education and outreach volunteer and help us inspire a commitment for bird conservation in the Bay Area.
TEACH IN THE FIELD
Volunteer in the field by leading bird walks, bird banding demos, or other kinds of nature walks for the public, or become a Landbird Science Docent or a Snowy Plover Docent and teach people about birds, science, and conservation.

ENGAGE URBAN COMMUNITIES
Connect our cities to nature by giving science talks, leading nest viewings that showcase nesting colonies that thrive in urban neighborhoods, and leading hands-on science activities at earth day fairs and other local events.

INSPIRE OUR YOUTH
Lead avian science craft and investigation activities at family science library and school events and for Scouts and other youth groups, and be a mentor for kids interested in pursuing science as a career.
