2019 California Fall Challenge Mewaldt Cup Bird-a-Thon
Are you a serious birder, an expert, a world-class competitor? Then this is your chance to prove it! Support SFBBO while competing for the chance to win the coveted Mewaldt Cup! The contest is named for one of our founders, Dr. Richard Mewaldt, and for more than 20 years it has been the climax of the California Fall Challenge. Registered team members can receive the 2019 CFC T-Shirt (at right). The value of the t-shirt ($10) is not tax deductible.
How to Compete: Start a team and choose a date for your "big day" (birding outing to take place anywhere in California between midnight and midnight) during the CFC. The Cup is awarded to the team that finds the most bird species during their "Big Day." Contest Rules: Check out our contest rules. Contest Dates: All Mewaldt Cup teams must begin and end competition on a single calendar day, anytime from Sept. 14 through Oct. 13, 2019. They must submit their bird species list to us by 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 14. How to Register: Registration is $50 per team member. You can register by clicking on the "Register for the CFC" button below. Then choose the "Trips and Contests" button, then choose the "Mewaldt Cup" button. You can also send a check to SFBBO, 524 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035. Please include a note on the check indicating that the donation is to go toward the Mewaldt Cup along with your team's name. How to Peer-to-Peer Fundraise During Your Big Day: You can also raise money for SFBBO during your Big Day. Consider creating a fundraiser on Facebook or asking us to create a page for you on our website and asking your community to donate a certain amount of money to SFBBO for every species your count. Questions: If you have questions, please contact cfc@sfbbo.org or call at (408) 946-6548 ext. 2. |
