Family Science Night

SFBBO offers Family Science Nights that engage kids and their familes through interactive, hands-on activities to explore the science of birds. These events are free and available throughout the Bay Area. To bring a Family Science Night to your community, or to volunteer at an event, please contact outreach@sfbbo.org.

Women in Science

SFBBO's Women in Science events are designed to inspire girls to get involved in the world of avian science. Girls who attend get to try hands-on activities and meet women who work in the world of science. These events are free and available througout the Bay Area. To bring a Women in Science event to your community, or to volunteer at an event, please contact outreach@sfbbo.org.

Birds in Your Neighborhood

SFBBO offers Birds in Your Neighborhood bird viewings, presentations, and corporate lunch n' learn events throughout the Bay Area to introduce people to the birds that live in their communities. These events are led by citizen science volunteers who are involved in SFBBO's Colonial Waterbird Program. They are free and available througout the Bay Area. To bring a Birds in Your Neighborhood event to your community, or to volunteer at an event, please contact outreach@sfbbo.org.

Community Events

Each year, SFBBO participates in a number of community events to share information about our mission to conserve birds and their habitats through science and outreach. These include events such as the Wingding Family Fest, International Migratory Bird Day, and Walk on the Wildside. To invite SFBBO to participate in your event, or to volunteer at an event, please contact outreach@sfbbo.org.

Bird Banding Demos

SFBBO offers opportunities for people to learn about the science of bird banding through demos and tours at our Coyote Creek Field Station in Milpitas. These demos are free for SFBBO members; a nonmember donation of $10 is requested. If you would like to bring children younger than 7 or have any questions about accessibility, please contact SFBBO to discuss options. Bird Walks

SFBBO offers bird walks throughout the Bay Area that are free for SFBBO members; a nonmember donation of $10 is requested. Participants should be able to walk continuously on relatively flat trails and paths for the duration of the trip. For all walks, please bring binoculars and wear comfortable walking shoes. You may also want to bring a spotting scope, sunscreen, a hat, a field guide, water, and a snack. If you would like to bring children younger than 7 or have any questions about accessibility, please contact SFBBO to discuss options. California Fall Challenge

SFBBO offers special guided birding trips and contests from mid-September to mid-October during our California Fall Challenge (CFC) to raise money for our science and outreach programs. To participate in our 2016 CFC, please contact outreach@sfbbo.org.
